An opportunity to bring the past into the present, in collaboration with the Fondazione Augusto Rancilio.
Located in Castellazzo di Bollate, next to the monumental Villa Arconati and just outside Milan, this 25sqm micro-apartment has been reimagined for short- and medium-term stays. The project offers a brief escape from the fast pace of the city while preserving a strong connection to its cultural and historical surroundings.

The entrance doubles as the living area, but it does not reveal the full space at once. A series of custom-made wooden portals structures the layout, guiding users through a sequence of thresholds toward the sleeping area.

Two configurations are proposed: one for two colleagues, and one for a couple with a double bed. This flexibility makes the apartment suitable for different types of temporary living.

The intervention is rooted in a respect for what remains. A disused fireplace — the only original architectural element still present — becomes the pivot around which the new layout is organized. In a bold and deliberate gesture, the bathroom is built around this feature, highlighting the project's intention to provoke, reinterpret, and assign new meaning to what has been forgotten.
